Withrow Springs and Hobbs State Parks
Our adventures this past weekend took us to two more Arkansas State Parks to add stamps to our State Parks “passport” books. This brings my total up to 13 (out of 52). However, these two were the last ones within an afternoon’s drive, so getting more will be more challenging.
Withrow Springs

Our first stop was Withrow Springs State Park, near Huntsville. Rebecca happened to be wearing an Arkansas T-shirt, so I had her stand with her back to me as she posed with the sign. Withrow Springs is a beautiful area with a very nice campground. Maybe we can go camping up there sometime.
Hobbs

Hobbs State Park is relatively close to Withrow Springs, and since I needed that stamp for my book, we stopped there as well. Rebecca had visited Hobbs two or three years ago with a friend, which is where she first started collecting stamps in her passport book. And she knew just what she wanted to show me in the Visitors’ Center.

I was not impressed. *shudder* That’s why the picture is somewhat blurry. Maybe. Sounds like a good excuse anyway.
War Eagle

I had a vague idea of where we were, but I wasn’t following the map too closely, so I was surprised when we went around a curve and there we were in “downtown” War Eagle. (Not a State Park, but an area of interest all the same.)

Lyle, of course, knew exactly where we were, and he knew I’d want to stop at War Eagle Public Library.

We waved at the Mill as we warily approached the rickety one-lane bridge…

…before carefully creeping across and then wending our way back home.
It was a hot afternoon, but a lovely day to enjoy the Ozarks scenery from the comfort of an air-conditioned car.
