Review: Inspired by Van Gogh Scratch Art
Today’s review is for the Inspired by Vincent Van Gogh Scratch Art kit from Djeco.
Disclosure: I received a complimentary kit for review from Timberdoodle. All views expressed are my own.
Inspired by Vincent Van Gogh

The artwork in this scratchboard kit from Djeco is by Muriel Kerba, inspired by the style of Vincent Van Gogh.
What’s Included

The kit includes four scratchboards with different designs, a visual instruction booklet, and a wooden scratch stick.
The Process

The process is pretty straightforward–simply scratch away the blue coating to reveal the colors underneath. The trick is not to scratch everything off but to include some swirls and patterns in your scratching to add your own touch to these small works of art.
The Finished Products

“Tournesols” (Sunflowers)

“Paysage” (Landscape)

“Vieux Chenes” (Old Oaks)

“Voiliers” (Sailboats)
My Thoughts

This type of scratch art makes an excellent “fidget” activity for a student to work on while listening to read-aloud books or audiobooks. Or, similar to adult coloring books, it makes a relaxing evening activity for anyone like me who enjoys having something to do with her hands while she listens in on whatever her husband might be watching on TV.
It would also be great for travel since it’s small and requires no extra supplies or special tools. The only caveat is that the blue scratching residue makes a little bit of a mess. Working on a clipboard makes it easy to clean up.

Each Inspired by Van Gogh project can be completed in less than an hour. The resulting piece is artistic and worthy of display. I stacked them up and propped them on an easel, making it easy to rotate the pictures occasionally.
