Review: Season of My Enemy

Today I’m sharing a book review for Season of My Enemy, a Christian historical romance novel by Naomi Musch. It is part of the Heroines of WWII series published by Barbour. Each book in the series is a stand alone novel set during the war.

My Review

Season of My Enemy is the story of a Wisconsin farm family. The father has passed away, and the two older brothers are off fighting in the war overseas. That leaves Fannie, her teenage brother and sister, and their mother to keep the farm going and bring in the crop. With all the able-bodied men gone to war, the only family reluctantly agrees to have German prisoners from a nearby POW camp serve as farm hands.

The farm life aspect of the story appealed to me at this stage of my life, but I was especially intrigued to have the German prisoner’s perspective as well. Not all Germans were Nazis during the war, nor did all who fought in the German army agree with Hitler’s cause. I was fascinated by how the characters worked through their prejudices and found common ground.

About the Author

Naomi Musch is an award-winning author who crafts her stories from the pristine, Lake Superior north woods, where she and her husband Jeff live as epically as God allows near the families of their five adult children. Naomi is a member of the American Christian Fiction Writers and the Lake Superior Writers. Though she has written in a variety of venues on topics ranging from homeschooling to homesteading, her great love is historical fiction.
