Camping Season Begins
One of the main reasons we bought a travel trailer 3 years ago was to take to the homeschool conventions we attend each spring. The big side benefit, of course, was for regular camping and leisure travel. Our camping season typically runs from April through October, and we had hoped to take the trailer out one weekend before time for…

Way Out West
The last few mornings we have awakened to snow on the ground, but as the day progresses it usually goes away. After all, it’s spring! That’s what it’s supposed to do! Some days are rainy and chilly, but other days the sun comes out… and what a welcome sight that is! I haven’t seen the temperature go much above 50…

A Rainy Sunday Afternoon
I love long, quiet Sundays at home. Today it is raining. A lovely, slow spring rain. We are warm and comfortable, and each of us has something relaxing to do. I am grateful for my family, my home, and a day of rest each week. *** Some of my friends have started new blogs. Help me encourage them by stopping…

How Not to Decorate
Disclaimer: I’m not a decorating snob. I promise! I don’t have a degree in interior design, nor is my home professionally decorated. Now that we are clear on that, I just have to show you the decor of the vacation home in Florida where we stayed a few weeks ago. The first thing I noticed were the Disney posters on…

Learning and Lounging in Florida
No time for sight-seeing. No time for fun. It’s just all been work, work, work. Too bad “work” can’t be this relaxing every day!

Family Fun on the Oregon Coast
It didn’t work out for us to get together with extended family this year for Thanksgiving, so we decided to have a mini-vacation on the Oregon coast. We got up early Thanksgiving morning and drove all day, arriving at our hotel just before it got dark. Here is a view of the beach that was just outside our room. It…

Old-Fashioned Popcorn
What do you do when you hanker for some popcorn but have no electricity? Do without, I thought. We were “dry camping” a few weeks ago and I mentioned that popcorn sounded good, but since we had no power the microwave in the travel-trailer was useless. My romantic man remembered that and the next week went to Sportsman’s Warehouse and…

Seasons of Life
Well, I hadn’t really planned to have a “seasonal” theme on my blog this week, but it seems that what it’s turning out to be. My husband printed out these two pictures this morning and asked if I wanted to blog about them. (No, he won’t start a blog himself, but every now and then he suggests things for me…

Weekend Getaway
It was a beautiful weekend to enjoy the national forest. On Friday we had the whole campground to ourselves. The kids thought it was fun to pump water! Not native wildlife, but still picture worthy! Crystal-clear streams for wading.

Moose sighting!
This afternoon we went for a family bike ride on a really great trail in our area that used to be railroad tracks. It winds through the mountains and the scenery is spectacular. It was an unusually hot day for our area (right at 100 degrees) and since we haven’t ridden bikes all summer (at least the parents of the family…
