The Workbasket – June 1953
Time for some more scans from my collection of vintage Workbasket magazines, this one from June 1953. (Which I guess I should have posted in June, huh?) Anyway, 60 years ago. “Here is a hat which will keep you looking cool on the warmest days and is a perfect match for those casual summer dresses.” So, I’m supposed to believe…

Silverwood
My parents have been visiting us for the past week, so we’ve been busy doing fun stuff in between working. One afternoon last week we went to Silverwood, our local theme park. Laura got a job there this summer, and she earns one free guest ticket for every 40 hours she works. She had saved up her tickets so we…

Anomaly – review
Anomaly by Krista McGee is a fascinating sci-fi young adult novel. The publisher’s synopsis (below) drew me in, so I was happy to have an opportunity to review this book. Stories like this stretch my imagination with all sorts of “what if” scenarios. How would you share the gospel with someone who had never even heard of God? The plot…

Camping on the River
Our camping season is off to a late start this year due to all the traveling we did in the spring, but we were finally able to get away for two nights this past weekend. Big City Shopping
Frankly, I’m happy to be a Small Town girl. I’ve never had a desire to live in the Big City. However, every time we go to Seattle and vicinity, there are certain places we like to shop… mainly because we don’t have these stores in the Spokane area… IKEA Observation: Swedish names for things are hilarious. Especially when one has…

Birds in the Airport
Several trips ago I discovered that the mezzanine in Concourse C is a nice, quiet place to sit at the Denver airport while I wait till time for my flight. Today I discovered it is inhabited by birdies! Three little sparrows were hoping around looking for crumbs nearby. Then they flew away. I wonder how they got in.

Looks Familiar
So I'm walking along in a strange city where I know no one. Out of the corner of my eye I catch a glimpse of a familiar figure. So I stop to take a second look. And then I laughed and took out my phone to take a picture of my "friend." No, not the statue. The reflection in the…

On the ground in Denver…
Turns out it wasn't a non-stop flight after all, but I don't change planes. And at least I can stretch my legs for a few minutes.
