Our Recent Adventures
Summer is whizzing right by! We’ve been working hard but fitting in lots of fun weekend activities.
I’m sure you’re just dying to know what we’ve been up to, aren’t you?

The first weekend of June I attended the Northwest Christian Writers Renewal in the Seattle area. The keynote speaker was Jim Rubart.
Also, Frank Peretti was there to present an award. It was really cool to hear him share about his pre-publication struggles.

We took the scenic route home across the North Cascades on Highway 20. This highway is closed much of the year so we hadn’t traveled that way before.
The mountains are truly breathtaking!

The next weekend we joined our friends from the Christian Nation Church of Missoula for a fun camp-out in Montana.
Mostly we sat around the central campfire and visited while the kids played Kick-the-Can.

Then it was back to work for 2-and-a-half weeks before our trip to St. Louis for our family reunion the weekend before the 4th.
Due to time constraints we flew for this trip. (You can read about that experience here.) Both girls got to go with us, which doesn’t happen often these days, and we had a great time.

We also managed to get in a short visit with Lyle’s mother while we were in Missouri.
The girls hadn’t seen their Grandma in several years. For that reason I was especially glad they were with us this time.

The Saturday after the 4th we loaded up the kayaks and took them to Winchester Lake–about 3 hours away–to meet up with my brother-in-law’s family who was camping in that area.
We went to the Winchester Days parade in the morning and then out on the lake with the kayaks in the afternoon.

The following week my parents were here for a visit. They just joined right in with our work and normal day-to-day activities.
On Saturday we went to the Post Falls Festival parade. Rebecca walked in the parade, passing out candy for the Food Bank where she volunteers.

This past weekend was Rathdrum Days. We set up a booth there for the print shop. It was a beautiful day for visiting with friends and neighbors!
This weekend we’re headed to Tacoma, Washington for a church camp and then barreling full steam into August which will likely be even busier than June and July!
How’s your summer been?
