Guest Post: From Diet to Edit
When my friend Kelly told me that her new book, From Diet to Edit, would be releasing today, I asked if she would be willing to write a guest post for my blog. Kelly has long been pursuing a healthy lifestyle and has encouraged many to do the same. I’m delighted to have her share today.
From Diet to Edit
By Kelly Lutman
When is the last time that you were on a diet? Was it recently in preparation for swimsuit season, or a few months ago to repair the damage from holiday celebrations? I’m guessing that this was not the first time.
Why do your diets not provide long-term benefit? Usually, it isn’t because you lack self-control. More likely it is because after the designated diet period, you return to your old food habits and get the same result as before.
I would like to give you a gift. I want to release you from dieting altogether!
That’s right! I want to set you free by sharing a new approach to food that will help you improve your digestion, increase your energy and balance your weight.
To discover that new approach take the “e” out of the word “diet” and move it to the front of the word. What do you have? Edit.
I’m sure that you have heard that the definition of insanity is to continue to do the same things and expect different results. To have a different outcome, you need to make changes … you need to edit your approach.
These edits can involve the pace at which you eat, the balance of foods and colors on your plate, the way you add flavor to food, the order you eat your food, the liquids you drink, and more.
Here are a few edit options to get you started:
- Eat a piece of fruit in place of a sweet dessert or snack. There’s something to be said for “an apple a day.”
- Plan for more sleep! Numerous studies have demonstrated that the lack of sleep can cause weight gain. Make sleep a priority for your health and wellbeing.
- Drink water … real water. Your body desperately needs water to function properly. If you don’t like water, try infused water that is flavored by fruit and/or vegetables and herbs.
A journey starts with one step – whether you are changing directions, entering a new environment, or following someone else.
