Words of Encouragement

soap1

I’m not sure why, but I prefer bar soap in the bath. I especially love hand-made soaps. I have three different friends who make soap “fromjill scratch” and I am always delighted when they gift me with a bar or two of their lovely scented soaps. None of my soap-making friends are local. One lives in Idaho, one in Montana, and one in Kentucky.

Last week I got a text from Jill in Kentucky, just out of the blue. She had stopped by the Sonlight office that day (was apparently traveling in our area) and had a gift for me. Currently I mostly work from home and only go into the office one day a week, so I missed her. She texted to let me know that she had left some soap on my desk for me. She knows I love her soaps.

I appreciated her thoughtfulness and I truly look forward to using the scrumptious soaps… {Pumpkin Spice, Cranberry Cobbler, Cherry Almond… mmm, they almost smell good enough to eat!} …but more than that I was grateful for her encouraging words:

“I know you are feeling a bit depressed and wanted you to know I have been praying for you. The soap was a little token of my love.”

Apparently she picked up on my current discouragement from an earlier blog post. She didn’t ask for details. She didn’t need to know more. She just prayed. And took the time to tell me so. And offered a little gift along with her prayers and words of encouragement.

I appreciate friends like that.

Thank you, Jill. I’ll be looking for ways to “pay it forward.”
