My Review

The Resurrection Project takes place in the not-too-distant future and addresses ethical questions that we, as a society, may likely have to grapple with in the days to come. The story is told from three points of view: a young medical intern, Ellen, who works with a group of institutionalized children; one of the children, called L2; and a middle-aged ER nurse, Mamie. As the story unfolds, we learn how each of these characters is connected to one another.
The characters are likable and believable, and the plot kept me turning the page. There were some tense moments, but in general, the story has a “cozy” feel to it (similar to a cozy mystery), which I appreciate. I enjoy suspense but not violence. The Resurrection Project is intriguing and thought-provoking. I look forward to reading the sequel.
From the Publisher
In 2034, medical student Ellen McCarthy took an internship at the mysterious Grindland Institute to fulfill a graduation requirement. But what at first seems like a boring job supervising children soon has her tangled in questions about the Institute’s Resurrection Project. Meanwhile, ER nurse Mamie Simpson is grieving the loss of her daughter, Lainey, and hoping against hope that a new scientific breakthrough will provide a miracle for her and her husband. When Ellen and Mamie’s paths eventually cross, both will have to take steps of faith and courage they didn’t think possible to help save the life of a special little girl.
