June Reading Recap
Hello, July! June turned out to be a light reading month for me. We had a weekend trip to a friend’s wedding and two Vacation Bible Schools (one at our home church and one in Missouri), so June went by fast. However, I did, as always, read.
I also pulled in a fun book haul one weekend. As we returned from the wedding, I got to go to the Books by the Pound store in Searcy, Arkansas. They also sell books by the box, so you know I filled up a box! I found several to add to the vintage series books I’ve been collecting.
Obligatory Disclosure: I am an Amazon Associate, so I earn from qualifying purchases when you click through on links in this post. I also link to Project Gutenberg for public domain books, which can be downloaded for free.

Book Haul

I enjoy watching for and collecting old Stratemeyer syndicate books (Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, and many other, more obscure series), as well as similar series and favorite authors, mainly from the 20th century. A few of the titles I acquired this month are in the public domain and available as free ebooks (or to borrow at Open Library), so I’ll link to those in case you’d like to download them.
- A Campfire Girl’s Chum by Jane L. Stewart (Campfire Girls series)
- Kitty Carter, Canteen Girl by Ruby Lorraine Radford (Fighters for Freedom series)
- The Invisible Chimes by Margaret Sutton (Judy Bolton series)
- Blue Ruin by Grace Livingston Hill
- White Orchids by Grace Livingston Hill
- Rainbow at Dusk by Emilie Loring
- Betty Wales, Senior by Margaret Warde (Betty Wales series)
- The Black Stallion Mystery by Walter Farley (Black Stallion series)
- African Adventure by Josephine James (Kathy Martin series)
- The Mystery of the Blue Pelican by Eileen Hill (Robin Kane series)
- The Mystery of the Flying Skeleton by Mel Lyle (Power Boys series)
- Dr. Kildare’s Trial by Max Brand (Dr. Kildare series–this was an old-time radio program)
- Dr. Kildare’s Crisis by Max Brand (Dr. Kildare series)
Some time I’ll have to show you my shelves so you can see how I’m getting along with my collections. Very slowly, to be sure, because I mostly look for inexpensive books “in the wild” rather than ordering from online sellers.
Happy reading!
