Friday Freebies

Happy Friday, friends! What better way to deal with the dreaded February doldrums than curling up with a good book and your hot beverage of choice, am I right? Or is that just me?

As if my To Be Read list of books wasn’t long enough, I constantly keep an eye out for books that are free on Kindle. I thought it would be fun to start a regular weekly feature where I share the titles that catch my eye each week. (I have not yet read most of these, but I did download them to my Kindle for later.)

Usual Disclosure: These are affiliate links which means I may earn a small commission on your Amazon purchase. These were all free when I listed them, but please double-check before you download them.

Check back next Friday for a fresh list!

Alex on the Edge

I have to admit that the cover is what first grabbed me on Alex on the Edge by Kate le Roux. Isn’t that fun? It appears to be a Christian rom-com set in South Africa and Lesotho. I had friends who were missionaries to Lesotho when I was growing up, so I’m eager to read this one.

Wake

Wake by Sherry Rossman is Book 1 in the City of Light trilogy. It is a futuristic dystopian YA novel with a Christian worldview. (Books 2 and 3 are not free, but they are available on Kindle Unlimited.)

Rebels

Rebels by Scott and Judith Powell is Book 1 in the John Bates trilogy. It is a dystopian/sci-fi YA novel with a Christian worldview. It’s a quick read–it took me a couple of hours–and it could stand some tighter editing, but it was engaging enough to keep me turning the page.

The Particular Charm of Miss Jane Austen

Update: No longer free.

The Particular Charm of Miss Jane Austen by Ada Bright and Cass Grafton is described as “an uplifting, comedic tale of time-travel and friendship.” And another fun cover! Yeah, I gotta see what that’s about.

Secondhand Secrets

Update: No longer free, but available on Kindle Unlimited.

Secondhand Secrets by Angela Castillo is Book 1 of the Miss Main Street trilogy. It sounds a little formulaic, but sometimes I’m in the mood for a quick, light small-town romance. Just the bicycle and flowers on the cover are a fun pick-me-up, don’t you think?

Abi Button Cozy Mystery Romance Series

Tall Men and Strangers is Book 1 in the Abi Button Cozy Mystery Romance series by Lizzie Lewis. There are 6 books in the series and you can currently get all 6 for free with one click! Cozy mystery is another genre I have to be in the mood for, but with a latte on the cover I may just have to give it a try!

The Happy Hollisters at Snowflake Camp

Update: No longer free, but available on Kindle Unlimited.

The Happy Hollisters at Snowflake Camp is Book 6 (of 33) in a vintage children’s series by Jerry West. They were originally published in the 1950s and are now all available on Kindle. The fun thing is I’ve noticed that different ones are free from time to time, so I’ve accumulated several of them. I wonder if it’s seasonal since this one is a winter story.

And now we know that Karla judges books by the cover… or at least is willing to give them a try! Which titles piqued your interest?

What a fun list of books! Sadly I’m a bit late, but I will still check on a couple of these to see if they’re available. Have a nice day!

How fascinating that the first two books include Rossman, Lesotho, and South Africa! Looking forward to reading the first one while spending five weeks in the hospital this fall. Thank you for helping me stock my Kindle full!

Yes! I totally thought of you when I came across those books, Denise! I should have hunted till I found one with a Denise, too… but that might have been stretching it too far!

I’m sorry to hear you’ll be in the hospital for 5 weeks this fall, but hopefully you can enjoy some reading. Keep checking back each Friday for more freebies!
