Friday Freebies
It’s time for another round of ebook freebies!
You’ll notice I have a wide range of interests. I will read almost any genre of fiction with the exception of horror. Mostly, though, I enjoy books that teach me something–about historical events, or interesting places, or spiritual insights, things like that. I find I can usually learn something even in reading “twaddle.”
Here are the titles that interested me this week. Also, most of the books on last Friday’s list are still free as well.
Usual Disclosure: These are affiliate links which means I may earn a small commission on your Amazon purchase. These were all free when I listed them, but please double-check before you download them.
Cloudy Jewel
First up, one of my all-time favorite vintage romance authors, Grace Livingston Hill. Cloudy Jewel is actually about an “aging but lovable spinster” and her niece and nephew, rather than a romantic couple, so it’s more of a family story than a romance. Though there is romance, of course!
I shared a whole list of GLH books awhile back, with more freebies on that post if you like this author.
Knox
Knox by Susan May Warren is Book 1 of The Montana Marshalls series. It’s been on my Kindle for awhile, waiting for me to be the mood for a cowboy story, I suppose.
However, I have read other books by Susan May Warren, so I know this one will be worth a read. It looks like a book my daughter will enjoy as well.
Harriet Tubman: Fighter for Freedom
Update: No longer free.
Harriet Tubman: Fighter for Freedom is part of the Show Me History series of graphic biographies. I’ve always been a fan of graphic novels because I think they make reading more accessible to young people, especially, who may not be able to focus on blocks of text.
This one is full-color so the ebook version would work best on a Kindle Fire or tablet rather than my Kindle Oasis. Or, I even read graphic novels on my computer screen sometimes. Nice and large and easy to see that way.
The School Mistress of Emerson Pass
The School Mistress of Emerson Pass by Tess Thompson takes place in Colorado in 1910. The premise, the setting, and the time period all intrigue me.
However, what’s with the hoop skirt in 1910? Like I mentioned last week, I do judge books by their covers… and while this one is gorgeous I’m not sure about the authenticity. Oh, well!
12 Crochet Baby Blanket Patterns
Update: No longer free.
I don’t currently have any babies to crochet for, but a baby blanket pattern can be used to make a throw for anybody. Visualize that picture without the teddy bear. See what I mean?
I get tired of keeping up with paper patterns, so this book of 12 Crochet Baby Blanket Patterns will be handy to have on my Kindle next time I want to make a little blanket for whatever reason.
Before Beauty
For those of us who are fans of fairy tale retellings Before Beauty is part of The Classical Kingdoms Collection by Brittany Fichter. There are 9 books in the series and 4 of them are free this week!
All righty. I guess that’s it for this week. I’m interested to know which books you choose from this list… and since I haven’t read most of them, I’m also interested to know how you like them. Let me know!
See you next week!
