Friday Freebies

Good morning! Are you ready for some more freebies for your Kindle?

Today’s batch is a mix of genres but before I get to that I want to recommend A Year of Living Prayerfully which I shared on my list on March 12. If you got it then but haven’t yet read it, you should. It is a fascinating, humorous, and inspiring look at prayer traditions around the world. I couldn’t put it down! If you didn’t get it when it was free it’s definitely worth the current price of $2.99 for the Kindle edition.

This week’s list is all fiction, but a nice variety… perfect for “mood reading” options!

Usual Disclosure: These are affiliate links which means I may earn a small commission on your Amazon purchase. Featured titles were all free when I listed them, but please double-check before you download them.

A Soldier’s Promise

A Soldier’s Promise by Laura Scott is Book 2 in the Crystal Lake series. Book 1, Healing Her Heart, is also currently free. I included it on my March 5 list, so if you’ve been with me right along you may already have it.

“Reeling from a broken engagement that resulted in a small town scandal, ER nurse Julie Crain just wants to be left alone over the Fourth of July Holiday weekend. But when single dad, Derek Ryerson and his young daughter need a place to stay to recuperate from a car accident, Julie can’t ignore their plight.”

Love & Order

Love & Order by Elsie Davis is Book 1 of the Holidays in Hallbrook series and looks like a fun read with kids, pets, and chaos! If you end up enjoying it the rest of the series is available to borrow on Kindle Unlimited.

“Social worker April St. James goes above and beyond for the children in her care. So when a recent client passes away, she steps in to stay with them and their big, slobbery dog until the client’s son arrives, even though it means risking her career.

Garrett Bradley worked hard to earn his position as a high-powered lawyer. However, when he returns home after his mother’s death, nothing could have prepared him for his surprise inheritance.”

Pinky Promise

Pinky Promise by Valerie Comer is a novella in the Riverbend Romance series. It appears to be another light, humorous read with a “Parent Trap” twist.

“Kelly Bryant’s young daughter wants a daddy and sets her sights on her new best friend’s single father. The man may be charming, sweet, and a believer, but Kelly is embarrassed. She extracts a pinky promise from her six-year-old to stop proposing to men on her behalf.

Ian Tomlinson isn’t looking for a wife but does need care for his daughter during spring break the week after his move to Riverbend. He hates to ask Kelly — and plant ideas in the girls’ minds — but he’s rather low on options.”

Deadly Alliances

Deadly Alliances by Candle Sutton continues with the adoptive/blended family theme but with a suspense/thriller storyline rather than rom-com.

“US Marshal Milana Tanner doesn’t know where she came from. Abandoned as a toddler, she was adopted into a pastor’s family and raised as their own. Her brother is the sole witness to a murder… and the intended target. She’ll do whatever it takes to keep him safe from the infamous assassin hunting him, even if it means confronting the demons from her own mysterious past. It will test her training, her skills, and her faith.”

Maya Hope

Maya Hope by Timothy Browne is a medical thriller set in Guatemala.

“Dr. Nicklaus Hart, a gifted trauma surgeon, searches for meaning in his life. His self-reliant spirit is broken with the death of his missionary best friend, found sacrificed at the base of a Maya Temple. Going to Guatemala to fill the shoes of his friend at the mission hospital, he discovers God’s redemption and peace in the smiles of the children he cares for. But his own life is in danger as he and his team stumble onto a deadly North Korean plot.”

One Day Gone

One Day Gone by Luana Ehrlich is Book 1 of the Mylas Grey Mystery series.

“Mylas is the Chief Investigator for Senator Davis Allen, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. His job is to do background investigations for the President’s judicial nominees, and that’s the only kind of investigation he’s interested in doing. But then Lizzie, the Senator’s daughter, goes missing from her campus apartment. And suddenly, just like that, Mylas finds himself back in his hometown of Columbia, Missouri, investigating her disappearance…”

The New Pastor

The New Pastor by Sherman Cox looks like a fun read after all those “scary” novels. Not sure how believable the storyline is, but the premise intrigues me…

“Perennial student Elliot James has racked up many degrees and is contemplating another to continue postponing life. When his roommate forced Elliot to find a job, he applied for the secretarial position at Bethel Community Church. But, in a case of mistaken identity, the ranking church officer thought Elliot was the perfect candidate for the open pastoral position. He must become a pastor in a hurry because the church is falling apart…”
