A Little Free Library Adventure
One Sunday afternoon I asked Lyle if he would take me on a drive to Spokane to hunt for Little Free Libraries. He is not much interested in the little libraries themselves, but he does love anything to do with maps and driving… (not to mention how much he loves me) …so he was game. I took along 20 books…

5 Things Friday
Firstly. We are doing summer hard. What? Can’t you tell how hard it is from that lazy lake picture? Seriously, between a full work schedule and then fitting in as much play as possible, life is very busy. We’ve been camping and kayaking and 4-wheeling and… Secondly. …going to parades! We hadn’t really planned on it, but after the Rathdrum…

5 Things Friday
Firstly. We had a rip-roaring thunderstorm yesterday evening to usher in the official first day of summer. Rebecca and I were standing out on the porch watching the rain pound down when lightning struck our driveway. That’ll make ya jump. Secondly. Speaking of the first day of summer, why does it feel like the summer is already half over? Maybe…

How to Build a Campfire
Last June I wrote a series of articles on Camping for Beginners. As I watched Lyle building the fire on our last camping trip I thought a campfire tutorial might be good to add to the series. Lyle starts with several sheets of newspaper which he wads into balls. I didn’t get a picture of that stage of the process,…

The View from Canfield Mountain
The weather was lovely last weekend so we decided to take the ATV out for a long-awaited back-roads ride. We chose Canfield Mountain, overlooking Coeur d’Alene, for our first excursion. There is an extensive forest road up there that is limited to vehicles narrower than 50 inches (i.e. ATVs and Motocross bikes) so it’s an area we haven’t been able…
