Baby Shoes
Earlier this week, when I showed you my pioneer nook I had a comment about the “little black shoes” that I have tucked in on one of the shelves. So for today’s Vintage Thingy Thursday, I thought I’d tell you about the little black shoes!
The shoes are definitely “vintage”… but they don’t go as far back as pioneer days! They were my baby shoes. They aren’t the tiny “first pair” that many mothers save and cherish… but my mother saved them because she just really liked them, and she was sad when I outgrew them. I wore them when I was about 18 months old.
I’ve had them for a number of years, tucked away in a box with other mementos of my babyhood… but after we moved into our new house this spring, I decided I wanted to use my keepsakes as decor throughout the house. I’m still working on that, but the shoes have found their place here!

I love the fact that you have a picture with you actually wearing the shoes. What an adorable asset to have with the shoes. I love family history collectibles.

I love those, can I still get them?? What a darling momento for your mom to save. I've done the same with some shoes & outfits. I don't think we have anything left from when I was little, boohoo!

These are really cute baby shoes, I think I’d like a pair now. The ones my mom saved from this age have bells on them because I used to run off!
Please try to stop by my Beach Party tomorrow, celebrating my 50th post!

Karla, I’ve always LOVED those shoes. I saw them on your shelf the other day and my heart skipped a beat. I remember you wearing them one time. I can see you and me climbing metal stairs holding hands in the middle with our little toddler “outside hands” clasping the stair rail on each side. We were looking down with each step we took, and I saw your shoes. In my mind we were going into the hospital to see your new baby twin sisters, though in that era, I doubt we were really going to “see” them, so I don’t know if it truly was stairs at the hospital. Neat memory that has never faded. Love, Rachel

Karla,
I do not know if you’ve been nominated for the Brilliante Weblog award, but your blog has been most inspiring to me, and I would like to pass it on to you at this time. Please see my post for information on the award.
